Ahh... remember the good old days of computing when everything was much simpler? Or at least it seemed that way. I got my start with computers using the Atari 800. It was the coolest thing around at the time, and I loved it. Then I upgraded to the Atari 520ST, and believe it or not, I still have that system packed away somewhere. Hunting for Easter Eggs? Try a DVD.
"Easter eggs in the world of technology are not trinkets covered in hard, colored shells. Those found in software applications contain a different kind of goodie, usually consisting of a hidden message or command that developers tuck away as an inside joke or tip. They range from anything as tame as a list of the often-unnamed developers who wrote the application to something more substantial, such as extra scenes in a video game." Brainwave Tracking on the Microsoft Xbox
"We've currently got some good braintracking running right now on the Xbox that truly brings a new game experience that most gamers could never have imagined before. For instance if you're racing along in Project Gotham or Rallisport, and your concentration is broken, our system will pick that up and kick in the handbrake to spin your control out of your hands. We can also attach that to the gas pedal, or do both, or do it in reverse! It's wild stuff, and we want to go much further. But we've gone about as far as we can without Microsoft's help." Believe it or not, I've been using an old ASTVision 5L 15-inch monitor as my main computer monitor for quite a few years now. It never gave me any trouble, and while I have found it small at times, I got by with it. Well, I think it's finally ready to kick the bucket, so I went shopping for a new monitor. I found a nice 17-inch NEC monitor on sale over at Amazon.com for only $189. And since Amazon is shipping orders over $99 for free, I didn't have to pay the extra $30 it would have taken to ship the thing. Pretty cool. If you're interested, click here to check it out.

"Digital cameras have become extremely popular in the past few years, probably due to the fact that prices have come way down, even on some of the more advanced models. Digital photography is wonderful, not only because of the advanced technology, but because there’s no film involved. You simply download your pictures to your PC, and you’re ready to take more. No film means an unlimited number of pictures that can be taken. But what do you do with them all? FlipAlbum CD Maker from E-Book Systems may be able to help." Check out my write-up in Reviews.

Get this... a programmer in Thailand has created a program that produces sound, which sounds like bad noise to mosquitoes. The bugs can't stand the noise, so it drives them away. I guess it works like those noise producing devices you can buy in the store, but in this case the noise is produced by your PC speakers. You can download the program here. I haven't used it, so try the program at your own risk, but it looked like a cool piece of trivia I thought you might like to hear about.
More importantly, I've got some new announcements for you from Procreate, Extensis, Data Becker, and Adobe in News.
